Social media platforms give us the opportunity to connect and interact with others instantly. We can share the best of who we are and look for ways to add value to others.

As we enter this Thanksgiving week in the U.S., I want to try an experiment and I want to invite you to join me.

From today until next Sunday, I am going to set a timer for 12 minutes each day and I’m going to use those 12 minutes each day to express thanks and appreciation to my contacts online.

I’ll send thanks in the form of tweets; I’ll send thanks on Facebook; I’ll send thanks on Google+ and LinkedIn, also. I will spend some time writing thanks via email and in blog comments.

When we express our appreciation to others, we strengthen our connections with them. Don’t you love to feel appreciated and valued? (I do!)

After my experiment is over, I’ll return to this space to share insights and observations with you. I hope you’ll do the same. You can share your thoughts in the comments or you can email me and I’ll incorporate your comments into my follow-up blog post.

Thank you for reading this post and being a part of the community here.
